A Digital Background

I thought this picture that Dennis Blauer took would make a great Digi SB paper. But I'm not sure how to do it...

probably just crop it and call it good. I suppose you could also put a colored layer under it and then put the cropped picture on top and lighten the opacity so that you can just start to see some texture. They have a class on how to do other stuff but I haven't signed up for it.

I was almost late to work today because I was downloading digital freebies. Why anybody would pay for kits is beyond me - either make them yourself or get freebies.

I still don't think I understand the different file types of PSE. What do I save it as to be an element. And is that different if I wanted to make, say, a template???

oh, yeah, I am a freebie addict. I haven't purchased anything yet at all.

If its a background I make it a jpeg because it takes up less space. If its an elemement or a template I make it a png file so that it preserves the transparent background.

Hey how come this thing doesn't tell me when comments have been added, they all say 0?

Also if you have a freebie but it's the wrong color you can change the color by going into enhance>color>hue and saturation then play with the sliders until you get a color you want. I recolor stuff all the time.

Ahh, that makes sense. Does a png have layers still? been meaning to try the recolorizing...

hmmm, dunno, mine is keeping track of how many comments are posted.

I don't think png has layers anymore, I save my pages as psd files because that preserves the layers but the files are huge so elements and templates are usually saved as png.

OK, so

png- elements
psd- things that still need layers
jpeg- backgrounds

Is that right?

yup that's how I do it. I figured it out from looking at the files in the kits dad sent me.
